Red Dots, White Lace and Blue Stripes

As I reviewed these photos, I realized that with everyone celebrating and posting about their 4th of July celebrations, I may have subconsciously taken the color schemes of red, white and blue and came up with this outfit. It sort of resembles the American flag, except for the polka dots and lace...and I'm lacking quite a lot of stars.

A tip for plus-sized ladies: When wearing loose tops, try to look for details like a garterized/elastic waist to show off your shape. Aaaand, pair it with either fitted jeans, skirts or shorts to create a balance and so you don't appear bigger than you actually are.

This is a regular large! Lesson learned: Try things on! Sometimes, the items you don't expect to fit, WILL FIT!

Sheer Red Polkadot Top with White Lace Detail: SOEN
Blue Striped Body-con Skirt: Forever 21
White and Black Heels: Nicole (Gifted by my Aunt a.k.a US-based Fairy Godmother)

I've been wanting to wear this fun skirt out for the longest time. Got it on sale for half-price in Forever 21 Megamall, sized a regular large. (Who woulda thunk?) Given the stretchy fabric and being someone who wasn't gifted with a shapely bum, I decided I could probably get away with it. I've never owned a body-con skirt until this came along... But, I'm so glad we've met.

Lately, I've been trying out items that I never thought I could wear as part of my "belated bloomer initiative," so I had to at least give this a try. Are there particular clothes, shoes or accessories that you've always wanted to try, but can't seem to find the guts to do so?

Hugs,
Belated Bloomer
