Vintage, hand-painted, bamboo bag. Isn't is GORGEOUS? (Sorry for the wad of tissues peeking through!) |
Salmon Pink Top: Banana Republic
Lace Maxi Skirt and Slim Gold Belt: Forever 21
Gold Accessories: Random Bazaars
Glittery Gold Wedges: Payless
Gold Oversize Sunglasses: Dior
Vintage Bamboo Bag: Mom's :)
I've been wanting to try out a maxi skirt for the longest time, so when I found one made of lace, I almost let out a squeal. Now, wanting and wearing it are two very different things. While I wanted to wear a lace maxi skirt, I didn't know how I would actually wear it. I tried it with a lot of tops ranging from blouses, polos, tanks to plain t-shirts, (believe me, my closet was a mess afterwards) but nothing seemed to match it right. Then this salmon pink shirt came in line and when I tried it on, I knew it would give me the easy-extra-feminine-vibe that I was going for.
Need I mention the
work of art slatted wooden bag that I am in love with? It's one of my mom's bags from her teenage years, making it truly vintage and loaded with sentimental value. While I inherited a lot of her genes, the bag-collector-who-keeps-her-stuff-in-mint-condition-for-decades-gene escaped me. It's sad that my future progeny wouldn't have anything vintage after they go through me. Haha!
How would you wear a lace maxi skirt?
Hugs,
The Belated Bloomer

DeleteFavorite elements of the outfit- the maxi skirt, the handbag, and the wedge sandals. The whole outfit is just beautiful. Then too, you can't spell "beautiful" without the letters "a," "b," and "i." And Abi, you are certainly beautiful with this outfit. From the United States to you, much love!

Deletei love maxi skirts - the lace detail on yours is great. also, mum's closets are fantastic, i inherited a lovely pair of sunnies from here but unfortunately i'm about one foot taller so all her clothes don't fit!
ReplyDeletelove that last photo too ;)

My mom's quite petite too, so our clothes and shoe sizes differ quite a lot. If only we shared the same shoe size, I could have free passes to her HUGE shoe collection.
Deletethat bag is adorable! and the romantic maxi skirt fits it perfectly. Now for wearing a maxi it really depends on the model. I have a cotton summer one and I've tried wearing it bit heels but it doesn't look right so now I'm wearing it with plats. It really depends on a model of the maxi. I like how you combined yours.

Yeah, usually it you're going for a laidback look with a maxi skirt, flats are the way to go! :D
