Chichi's Birthday

Red Cut-out/Cold Shoulder Top and Red Bubble Necklace: Bazaar
Black and Beige Bodycon Skirt: Forever 21
Leopard Wedges: Payless
Red-Orange Flap Bag: Charles and Keith

If you take a peek into my closet, you'd see that that the color red takes up quite a bit of space, along with black, white and beige. It's because Chinese custom associates red with happiness and good fortune, hence the obligatory wearing of the color during birthdays and special occasions to show good will. Last week, our family celebrated my sister's birthday at Edsa Shangrila Hotel's Heat, which became an opportunity for my poolside OOTD photos. Hee-hee.

As kids, my sister and I used to fight, bicker non-stop and grab each other's toys. We were away-bati all the time, resorting to name-calling, hair-pulling and other nasty gabs at each other. We'd even fight about the littlest things, like who gets to sit at the center of the backseat where the airconditioning is the strongest or who gets the last piece of yummy chocolate. Despite all that, at end of the day, we remained best friends.

Chichi (a pet name derived from Atsi, which means older sister in Chinese) as I like to call her, has been promoted to the position of my number one supporter. She is my cheek-pincher, shopping partner, foodie sidekick, outfit checker (remember her pushing for heels during my 1st bodycon dress stint?), part-time matchmaker and lifelong cheerleader. Despite all the ups and down of this life, I know she'll ride this roller coaster with me through all the thrilling loops and stomach-turning plunges...even to the point of puking with me at the end of the ride.

Life has always been more interesting with a sister.

Hugs,
The Belated Bloomer

  9. Oh man red must be a thing right now because I'm going to be wearing red in my new post too! But yeah you look great and I didn't know red meant that when you wear it, I think I need to buy more red clothing because I could use some happiness and good fortune in my life. hehe

I love my sisters too. I think they are the best gift that we can have in this world: a loving, supporting, sister. :)

  14. I never experienced having a sister, I am the only child. :( But I treat my friends as sisters but I guess it's still feels different. Anyway, I love the top, it's not too red, and it has a hint of orange on it.
