Gifts on Christmas

We're not the kind of family that celebrates Christmas to the hilt like most do. In fact, when I was a kid, I missed out on all those wish lists because we weren't really given the choice of what we wanted for Christmas. I guess it's my parents' way of not raising spoiled brats. It may sound a bit sad to some, but actually, I think it worked to avoid turning us into entitled little boogers. But now that we're all grown up, my siblings and I have a lot of fun reminding our parents of how many gifts they owe us from all those years. So, we make up for it by spending the holidays feasting, shopping and bonding together...all on their account. Hahaha!

Seriously though, I love Christmas because it allows families to get together, hang out, share blessings and ultimately, reflect back on the year that was and be thankful for all that we have received. There are so many things that we take for granted, things that cannot be seen by eyes or held with hands, but are far, far more valuable than any earthly material. This year, as you take part of your Christmas celebration, I pray that you will see beyond the wrapped gifts under the tree to those intangible presents that you are so blessed to have in your life.

A very Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Hugs,
The Belated Bloomer

  3. We never really had a traditional Christmas in my family either. We got only one present each and no Christmas tree and that was my parents' way of not spoiling us haha.

Love this dress - the colors are so beautiful and vibrant - just like you :]

  7. My parents and I didnt' celebrate a very conventional Christmas either---I would ask for something, but I would have to earn it (through work or good grades). Not exactly the spirit of free giving, but I'd say it made me more appreciative of my gifts!
