Black Cocktail Dress & Dangling Earrings: Forever 21 Plus
Fuschia Purse: CMG
Fuschia and Black Wedges: Cotton On
Silver and Gold Watch: Mango

I wore this ensemble to my cousin's wedding. It was a very fun event to take part of, hearing them exchange vows on the altar, seeing the bride's beautiful Veejay Floresca gown, watching the pre-nup and on-site wedding videos and slideshows, and just being able to witness a love that was tested and then strengthened by distance and time.

Usually, Chinese superstitious beliefs discourage the wearing of black during celebrations, but given that my new cousin-in-law is Filipino and the couple is quite non-traditional, I decided to go with this velvety A-line dress with a sweetheart outline for a classy and feminine look. I added the fuschia touches in the bag and shoes, because I wanted to be able to justify to nitpicky relatives that I wasn't wearing all-black. Haha!

Hugs,
The Belated Bloomer

    1. You can't fit a thing more than a cellphone and a lipstick, but the clutch sure is cute! ;)

  3. Didn't know that wearing black at a wedding was considered faux-pas in Chinese culture - that's interesting. I know in Korean culture, wearing white at a wedding is perfectly acceptable (which was a bit shocking to me at first). Fascinating the different types of wedding etiquette across the world.

I really love your dress - The velvet details really stand out and I love the pops of red! Bet you broke a few hearts at the wedding! :]

    1. Really? Wearing white won't be seen as stealing the bride's thunder?
